According to the WHO, a quarter of the world's population suffers from toenail fungus (onychomycosis).
Many people only realize that they have become a carrier of a fungal infection when the nail begins to deform, peel and change color.
If the disease begins, neighboring nails are affected and the fungus spreads to the skin of the feet and hands.
The problem is that curing a fungal disease is not easy;Even after serious treatment, relapses are possible.Therefore, it is important to recognize the disease in a timely manner and start treatment.
If drug therapy is not enough, apple cider vinegar can be used as a supplement or primarily for toenail fungus.
Symptoms of nail fungus
The success of treatment depends on how early the disease is diagnosed.
If you regularly visit a sauna, swimming pool or pedicure salon, you need to pay special attention to your health and notice any changes that occur.People who suffer from excessive foot sweating and neglect personal hygiene are at risk.Nail fungus can be recognized by the following signs:
- the appearance of longitudinal scars, whitish spots on the nail;
- Changing the color of the nail plate to white, green, brown, yellow, black;
- the formation of a cavity between the nail bed and the nail itself;
- Deformation, peeling of the nail due to its thinning or thickening;
- the appearance of an unpleasant odor;
- painful sensations.
At the beginning of the course of the disease it is difficult to notice, but over time changes in structure and color become clearly visible.To clarify the diagnosis, a scrape of the nail and the surrounding cuticle is analyzed.After the laboratory test, the doctor will tell you how to treat the fungus, including using simple vinegar.

Prevention of nail fungus
As with other diseases, prevention of fungi is easier than treatment.You need to know that the fungus loves dark places and moisture.
In order to avoid such an unpleasant disease occurring less often, you must follow the recommendations:
- Maintain immunity, monitor your health, because fungi attack precisely when the immune system is weakened by lack of sleep, stress and chronic diseases;
- You must wear your own spare shoes in all public places where you are required to remove your shoes and walk barefoot.
- It is advisable to have several varieties of shoes for different seasons - while one pair is being ventilated or dried, you can wear the second;
- Unless absolutely necessary, you should not take antibiotics - they are the main enemy of normal microflora and the best friend of fungal infections.
